Grilles Grilles Grilles

I'm in the process of refurb-ing Jessica's grille - discovered its chrome! (someone painted it [:0] ). I can't decide whether the bodywork behind the grille should be black or body coloured! There is some black stuff, but it could be road gunk, there again there is a lot of white, but it could be overspray from the terrible job that was done before!

I took a look at a couple of vans on here

skye http://www.commervanfan.co.uk/skye.htm has body colour

chloe http://www.commervanfan.co.uk/chloe.htm has black (I think)

The whole front panel, including the bit behind the grille, should be body coloured. The grille is actually aluminium - I think it was originally lacquered to preserve the shininess (if that is a real word)and normally responds well to a good douse of Autosol [8D]

I agree with Panky, body colour is the way to go,but usually they are rust coloured[}:)] ;)

back to my "rootes"

Behind my grill on the pa there is "black gunky stuff" some sort of foam to make a better seal I am guessing?

Jessica has a rubber seal round the aperture.

I had a crack with some TCut today and the black stiff does look like paint - maybe...

Does anyone have the commer paint code list?

must persuade steve to lend me the paint chart/codes then I could add them to the site?

I have been working on my front panal. It was black behind the grill (looked like dried tar)when I sanded it down the original body colour was under it. I think it should be body colour to set of the grill.

Yup, Chloes got black paint behind the grill!

I like them both ways, body colour looks clean, but black shows off the grill more, if you get what i mean?

Bessies' is thickish black paint and a rubber seal round opening, couls they have slighty rubberised paint to protect from water being trapped behind grille? - would be about the only place that Commer considered water traps:I
