Apologies for what may be a basic question, but I did try a search first of all and couldnt find a conclusive answer.

Not having owned or needed a grease gun before, is there any particular type or size or fitting type that I should be looking at? Is there a particular type of grease that needs to be used as well for each of the areas (kingpins etc)? Will the £12-15.00 type on Ebay be ok?

Wanner guns are usually considered the best but If I was getting a new gun I'd go for a cartridge type (a lot less messy when filling them)and some LM grease cartridges or equivalent. A pistol grip gun would be fine for most jobs.
 
Hi. Sorry wouldn't have a clue. However I imagine that for cars they would all be the same size nipple?? Just think how often you will actually have to use it? Not often perhaps so probably a cheapish one will do. I would also imagine if it has a grease nipple it is grease, so all the same stuff Have a chat with your garage. But I am sure you will get some better advice than mine on here. I would be interested if what i have said was boll@&£s thougho_O

The grease nipples are standard ones, most grease guns will come with the right adapter. I do mine every six months - and don't forget to wax you legs ans squeeze you bulbous end too;)
 
lol I don't have enough knowledge for this. Apart from engine oil, chain oil and copper slip I know nothing :( :)
 
When choosing a grease gun I would advise to go for one with a flexible end rather than the fixed rigid type (or even better to have both) as it eases accessibility to the more awkward nipples. Don't mistake brake bleed nipples with grease nipples.

Thank you all very much that is a great help. Good advise about the brake bleed nipples, thanks Jimmy!....I assume they are fairly obviously located on the brake lines?
 
Yes they are all at the back of the drum brakes assuming you have the standard set up. They should have little rubber shrouds on them but these are often lost or they perish.
