Looking to get some paint for my commer ambulance which is the coal board dark blue, any would i just be better taking it into a paint shop for match ,or would this have been a rootes colour on a chart somewhere.
regards grizz.
I've had this dilemma on hte morris, it realy depends on how much painting you are expecting to do, if its a total respray and you're into originality - then get the code and buy lots of paint, but if its just a touchup you're probably better off with a match as the paint will be faded. Problem with the commer is its one biiiig panel (apart from hte doors and the roof) so getting a match is pretty important.
I have this link for rootes paint codes which may be some use
ahhhhh, sweet, hope the rest of the keyboard didn't prove to be pudding[:X]
If you have access to a trusted paint shop or motor factors would be a safer bet for matching colours - as the monkeyman rightly says you might well have faded or might have had a previous paintjob with something the coal board had knocking about in the shed at the time.
Looking forward to seeing progress, hope all going well - keep us posted on how things are going
