Gone electric...

Not the van unfortunately but it's still on the roadmap for a few years time (anyone watching Vintage Voltage?)

I've bought an E Bike, got so fed up of the 2 mile mountain bike ride, wobbling up the hills to get to the moors. Never ridden one before and these thing are amazing, can be on the moors in 10 minutes feeling fresh and opens up so much more of the Peak District without the fear of going down into other valleys and struggling to cycle back out.

Needs one or two upgrades, but was too cheap to resist at half price with 60 miles on it and strangely with a more powerful motor and battery it shouldn't have from the factory - fortunately the seller didn't know that. Think it was end of line and they slapped on what they had laying about.

I was looking at going electric (but motorbike version). It turns out the insurance industry hasn't made it into the 21st century yet and hardly anyone will insure electric motorbikes. The ones that do charge sky high premiums and insane compulsory excess. Premium from one company was over £600 with £1,500 excess. I could insure a 130 bhp missile for quarter of the cost of insuring a two wheeled milk float! Looks like I'll just have to carry polluting the planet.
