Gearbox question

Hi there,

Hope you're all well... glad to see the old regulars are still out there since I last posted... you know who you are!?

I have taken my gearbox apart (Commer PB with O/D) and need to replace a bronze bush type thing. So my question is: Does any one know the correct term for this 'bronze lay shaft bush' - and where can I get one? Speedies? MM?

Thanks Panky. Yes... I think it's the only component part of the gearbox made of bronze... can't identify it on the diagram though? Where can I get one from?

If it's the broken bit in the pic it's called a baulk ring (No's 7, 10 and 12 on the diagram), the bronze bit still attached to the shaft is the syncro hub, but neither are on the layshaft. Speedies should do them but they're on holiday until 1st June:I I'd try Mr M.

Thanks Mr P.... I made a mistake... it's the bronze lay shaft bush in the overdrive!!?? - how can I get it replaced?? - not sure Speedies will stock it?? Do you have a diagram of the o/d??

Hi Ray, the only bushes I can see are 69 and 83 on the diagram - listed as mainshaft bush and just bush, which I suspect supports the tail shaft of the annulus.
This is the diagram for the Laycock 'J' type overdrive which was used on loads of different cars, not just Rootes, I don't know of any specialist but if Speedies don't have what you want just Google Laycock Overdrive and I'm sure something will turn up.
