Gearbox linkage query

Hi all,

Just been looking at the gearbox linkage on Smurf and there 2 nylon rose cup connectors which look like a breakdown waiting to happen, are these found on all commers? do they often break ?

They wear very badly, causing sloppy gear changing [xx(] Fortunately a new part on my repo list ;)
