gear knob thread

hi :)
i am looking at getting a retro fit gear knob for my commer any ideas what the thread size is ?? i have checked the gear stick thread with a re thread kit and it seems to be 3/16 unf-24 ? i have emailed the manufacturers and they have said that this thread is "a bit smal" for a gear knob ??

any one out there that can shed some light on this

I know dozer has made a custom knob in the past (oooer) maybe he can shed some light?
 
Eh up Rhett good to hear from you[8D].
A lot of the modern retro knobs have a plastic insert so the gear stick cuts its own thread as you screw it on.
