This my new bracket in place, I think it's the right way round but could someone just clarify it please.

Cheers panky, I feel quite proud. Just the front one now, I think this ones going to be a little harder. Is it the same procedure on the front, the only difference is that I have to take the bracket apart and replace the bush as martin doesn't have any front brackets......gutted about that but oh well.

Well done that man[^] It's great when a plan come together.
I've never done the front bush so afraid I can't advise on that one, I believe it's a right pig to do:I

It can be done but a little tricky...if i managed it anyone can :) the accelerator bar gets in the way a fair bit. You need to drill the old bracket apart and a rivet gun to put it back together again. As the vicar said...give your shaft a good greasing afterwards

hi I have removed the bracket that holds the gear lever, on the picture is that the square headed bolt? Should there be a locking wire around it? Finally I remove the two bolts that hold it to the chassis, where's the bush is it in the bracket or the bracket attached to the chassis? Why do you have to remove the knuckle? I presume the knuckle is what the gear lever goes into.

There should be a locking wire. The knuckle stops the bracket being slid off the front of the gear shaft.

So the knuckle is where the square headed bolt goes into? I have taken the square headed bolt out of the knuckle, but there is no locking wire. Where should the locking wire come from. When removing the knuckle should I tap it a little with a hammer?

Finally I've got the front bracket off, I'm really pleased with myself. It was ok until I got the the final bolt that's on the chassis, a bit of patients and it's off. The garage was going to charge me £180.

Hi I've got the bracket back on to the front rod, but I have one bolt tightened but can't get any purchase on the second one. Has anyone got any ideas.

Hi, I finally got the bolt tight. It took some effort but I got there. Then I put the knuckle on and tightened the bolt. Plenty of copper grease was added, now it's the locking wire and finally the gear lever will go back on. I'm going to take my van for a drive tomorrow. Then back to greasing nipples.:D

Hi, I have put the gear lever back on, there is still some sideways movement in the knuckle. Is this correct or should there just be backwards and forwards movement?

I have taken my van for a little run and it goes into gear ok. I have put it all back together correctly, so there's not a lot more I can do on it. I thought I tried it last night and there was no sideways movement. What causes the movement?
