When i was sitting in the van guiding it up the Flatbed trailor i could feel the grinding through the steering wheel...I knew something was going to be broke but just prayed that it'd be ok. Horribly i was right:(

Panky you have mail:)

I seem to remember someone talking about fitting a towing eye but can't find it, anyone help?

Steve's thread on the camper resto I think.
He was going to utilise the fixings on the chassis rail for a left hand drive steering box.

Yeah mate, not as bad as i thought really. It'l be around the £100 mark. Just waiting for Breakdown company to accept liability and then i can get it moving. Garage i took it too literelly had to dust off his old Balancing tool in preparation HAHA! New ones don't fit due to the wheel arches!

I spot a possible problem in that when they off load the van they get you to sign a piece of paper which states that there is no damage to it,also you will have an excess on your insurane?
will it effect your no claims(probably not on a classic policy)
I presume ins will claim from recovery company's ins
less hassle to sort it your self [?]

I thought that too Chris, but who is going to get underneath vehicles to check for these things? You have a million and 1 different things on your mind when they drop you off like 'How we going to get this thing mended etc' I totally agree that it would be easier for me to sort it but out of principle i can't go down that route yet. I don't think for one minute that it was done on purpose and that it was an easy mistake to make, but a £100 is a £100 at the end of the day. The end result is, they - Through lack of due care and attention damaged our van to the expense of a hundred quid. Why should we stomach the cost really? A £100 to them is nothing...To us it's a considered amount! If/when they admit liability, our insurance won't be affected. If they don't, we have a problem. We'll see!
