Fuel Sender Unit

Hi,

Does anyone know where I can get a fuel tanks sender unit. Speedy's are all out and I can find one anywhere. Or is there a retro fit item that anyone knows about?

My van measures fuel fine for the top half of the tank and then goes straight to zero which makes me uncomfortable eventhough I know I roughly have 4 gallons left!

Cheers

Dave

I was just thinking that this is the one thing that makes me uneasy on longer runs - I think commeracer has been using existing senders when manufacturing new petrol tanks but maybe commerjules has a solution?

At some point in the future I could get some made if there was enough demand, but to be honest I doubt there would be. Veco make senders and floats so it would be a case of sorting out the right rod.
I have a spare used working sender if anyone wants one.

Cheers

Anyone got anymore?

If not, does anyone know of any mods that can be made to the tank so that a more available sender unit can be fitted?
Cheers

for woolfys tank i bought a universal adjustable sender off eblag, cost about £20

I've got a similar problem but always assumed teh problem lay with the voltage regulator jobber. before you condem you sender unit might be worth taking it out checking it with a multimeter - seeing if you get a nice range of readings. If so try swapping over the regulator jobber. Does your temp guage read okay?

Yes, the voltage regulator is fine as the temp gauge works perfectly and I've tested the v regulator off the van.

I dropped my tank a few weeks ago and found that the sender unit was only stiff! - a bit of wiggling around at it works fine. So you may not need a new one.:D

*od the gauge carry a can of fuel [}:)]

"RAN"the van FORSALE. "SYBHIL" & N0.1 Probably won't get restored unless I win the lottery.
