Fuel additive

Hi all, I've just stumbled upon this whilst browsing the bay. Anyone used/heard of these?
I've yet to have the pleasure of driving katy and so haven't yet had to fill her up and use an additive. Is it a silly question to ask if additives are essential?? Regards, scott :)

i think it was tim and a couple of others saying that it was a complete waste of money:( stick with your lead replacement additive :)

If they worked manufactures would not spent money fitting hardened valve seat inserts :)

I nearly had inserts put in the head I just rebuilt, but at £140 plus vat for the work - and I don't use the van a great deal, I decided to stick with the additive...
 
I have found 1.5 bottles of red ex in The colonel does it go off or should I use it [?]
I would go for hardened seats if finances allow [8D]

Redex & the castrol version also have an octane booster which brings the grade up to 5* - which the engines were designed to take (unless you have retimed & retuned to take lower octane)
I would always fit stainless valves & inserts if you are having the head redone anyway.
