Front Wheel Cylinders

Hi all, got a bit of a problem with my van, its pulling very bad to passengers side. I took the wheel and drum off and the wheel cylinder is leaking making it grab as you brake. mine is the blue G reg that came to wales with you in 2011 and parked next to Gladys. Does anyone know if you can still get repair kits for the wheel cylinders, there seems to be a few different sorts ans sizes too. mine is a twin piston type with two large nuts holding it to the back plate if this helps. Cheers.

There are two different bores, I'm sure Martim M. will have some.

brilliant thanks, i will have to measure them. Is it the bore size that is different or the overall size of cylinder.

Cool thanks. I will have it to bits at the weekend and check. Can you get repair kits for them or is it best to change the whole thing.

You will probably find they are the bigger bored ones- most are. The cylinders look identical except for the position of the locating pin that fits into the back plate. Personally I'd change the whole thing, as they aren't that expensive, and if the old one isn't too bad replace the seals and keep it as an emergency spare:)

Gotta agree with Panky......the seal kits are fiddley and if metal parts are worn or pitted they won't seal for long...they are not expensive and it must be worth the little extra for a new one if only for peace of mind:)

Martin sells them. Be carefull when taking the old ones off though as i broke the weak (old) hose on mine and needed to get another piece made which again, Martin could sort out. My advice would be to buy a flared spanner to remove it if you don't already have one? Go gently, remember, the likely chances are that they have never been replaced before so the screw ends are going to be very stiff to remove, plus, being so close to the ground they obviously get rusty :)

There is only one bore size for your van, as it's the early one with 2 cyl's each side. They are handed, left and right. Kits are avalable, but if there is any damage to the bores or pistons, the seals won't last 2 minutes.

Hi Martin, i'm sure mine is a single cylinder, twin piston type, looks like an over sized rear mini one really. I will try and get it to bits at the weekend and take photo of it just to make sure. Do you keep both types in stock?.
