Front flexi brake hose mounting

First job on Lucy (Dodge Spacevan) is to change the brake flexi hoses as the rear leaked like a sieve and the fronts are probably the same age.

The rear hose went fine as it was covered in oil - the fronts are rusted to heck, they've had multiple days of rust penetrator and aren't budging.

There's a tab type affair on them that differs from that shown in the manual (see photo). We're looking at having to cut the hoses off - presumably if we damage this tab type thing in the process it'd be fine to use a shakeproof washer as per the manual and/or a nylock instead?

Must be a Spacevan thing, shakeproofs fitted to both of mine - and every other brake hose I've ever fitted
 
Was initially planning on just sorting the flex hoses as they were in the "it's going to kill us" category, with the solid lines being a "once she's up and running".
Already have a set of flex hoses from Martin but the nuts are still fighting back and more drastic measures are being considered for their removal!
As a result the solid lines are getting knocked a bit so I may just bite the bullet and do those as well. Not something I've attempted before, but guessing it's not too bad a job?
 
The top end of the hose (shown above) has been released with the use of a mini angle grinder!

The other end is now causing problems. One side's captive and the other side is again rusted solid but with very little space to get much in there. :mad: indeed!
 
You've probably got it sorted now but careful use of the angle grinder with a thin disc cutter can make short work of the pesky nut - oh the smell of burning brake fluid on a summers morn:D
