There is a special tool needed for opening the parcel..............it took 1 1/2 rolls of tape [:0]
booked for collection on thurs ;)

yeehaa postie arrived yesterday and left a sodding great heavy parcel with our new neighbours, what an introduction that was! so onwards and upwards now have a nice diff to fit over the next few days depending on the weather. I know the diff to axle gasket thickness is crucial to the setup of the diff but could i use gasket paper of the right guage and what guage would i need[?][?][?] A massive thanks again to Tim and Chris for all there help, just a nice reminder to us that we really are amongst true friends on here:):):):):)[8D][:X]

Cheers Tim bought some today and also found the same place does the oil seals so going to do those at the same time, how do i go about getting the half shafts out, do they slide/lever out or do i need a puller? also the manual shows the axle oil as being EP90, is this what people are using, thoughts please?

Charlie Update. i have the diff in and bolted up after digging all the sludge and crap out of the axle tube and diff pan![xx(] i have the O/S half shaft cleaned and reinstalled but upon cleaning the N/S ive found some monkey has been there before me and replaced something, but on reassembly has put oil catcher plates in wrong positions so i have a friend kindly removing the bearing and reassembling it in the right way.( the same friend turned out to have worked on commers for donkeys years and within the last four years scrapped tons of spares inc suspension setups, gearboxes, engines and the like because nobody took any interest in them when he advertised them[V]) having read the handbook it says the axle oil should be changed every 6000 miles, does any body do this? having seen the crap in my axle i will be doing it on every service now! does everyone use the EP90 as recommended?

Yes EP90 is the one to use. Commer diffs are a bit overstressed and under oiled, so need all the love you can give them :)

1/2 remember someone in the Gloucester area advertising 4No commer gearboxes in Classic Car Weekly not long after buying our PB around 04/05 and was going to collect one, for a spare, whilst passing thro' that summer...
It didn't happen:I:(
That's a shame if its the same guy scrapping that lot[V]
 
Thanks Tim, care love and attention it is from now on! Yes Greg that would of been him, he said he put the lot in all the classic mags and never recieved a call, when he gave up the unit they were in when he retired he had no other choice and assumed people just didnt want commers and the lot went to a scrap metal dealer. great shame but he did try.
