Hi all,

Since we limped home...infact we didn't limp, we drove proudly and without fault (ish) home form commerfest fonty has been parked up and pretty much forgotten about. I've been sneaking a peak on the forum but, in all honesty we lost alot of heart and desire. Sad family issues (seams we haven't been the only ones [xx(]:() put her not only out of sight but also out of mind.

HOWEVER.

I got a call from Tim yesterday telling me of a present for Fonty that had crept under the radar on ebay - so we have brought her a play mate - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230517995099&ru=http%3A%2F%2Fshop.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2F%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp4712.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D230517995099%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

Like a savage dog she will disguard all but the engine and gearbox - Rover V8 with only 45000 miles on it :). And maybe the horn...:D[xx(]

It will soon be playtime for Tim and I + Mr Grinder....and tea and cake duties for Cara and Chris ;)

I've hopefully already sold on the interior - a neighbour asked me a few days ago (I did put in parts wanted) for an interior for a van he is changing to a camper...it's an LDV so it could be already paying for itself!

It won't be done anytime soon I shouldn't think - but next year she will be on the mend!

She took her time seeing as we went to get her yesterday :I! Thanks for taking delivery of your new 'skip'! Please tell me you tried the horn?!

After being sat for a year, other than a drip from the bottom core plug she started so easily, first time - even using the old fuel. The engine looks a cracker - and for only £225 which we may make back from selling her extra bits....my have a porta potti anyone!?

Rather than drive her home with a bit of a leak we drove her off the guys drive and called the RAC :D It saved on the fuel too!

Thanks again Tim - cracking spot. Now, is there anymore chocco hob nobs left?

Jon&Cara-Gramarye Fontaine

I forgot about the horn :I, but the recovery guys tried it and were well impressed apparently :D
Damn, i forgot about the hob nobs too [:0]:I[}:)]

You've ate them ALL? I'd of swapped you the reversing 'beep beep beeps' for them.

Martin may want the horn as a replacement on the fire engine now its not needed on the ambulance? It would make it much classier :D. The ITV newscrew would of featured that for sure!

I do think it is actually a shame to break it up - but it can have the Pinto engine if anyone wants a 3.1 tonne ambulance pulled by a pinto?!

It's been a while....after a lot of thought (and actaul sobs) and a slow down in work the decision was made to sell Fonty. Not one we wanted to make, but as my father was main sponsor with repairs I really felt like we had to show some willing and sell what is really our only asset!

Soooo after trying our best to put him off we have a buyer who is coming up at the weekend to sign on the dotted line. I am sure, if you haven't worked out through several recent questons who the new buyer may be then they will say so at the weekend!

What to do next - well I am looking for a bit more work, it is picking up and does this time of year (I photograph property - www.jonholmesphotography.com - frre plug :D) and when that happens we shall be in a better place to buy again.

However, I have seen a van today which would be a project, but a very doable project, actually it is a wanderer Gladys! It needs new panels and paint etc so I shall be emailing those in the know to price everything up. BUT it won't be fonty, so we may buy something like a Triumph Herald Convertible and a nice new tent to add some extreme camping at these meets in memory to Panky and as neighbours for Lee ;) This would also free up some money for a rainy day.

Being our first classic it has helped us find our feet. Buyng the second Pinto engine was a massive mistake and then the money thrown at that was silly. We will never buy an engine from eBay without seeing it first again! I decided against the V8 swap as I didn't want to cut fonty about to fit it in. A deal may be struck with Tim for him to keep it in turn for welding lessons [:0]:D

That must have been a real hard decision, despite all the grief you had you persevered and almost nailed it, a shame the pinto didn't work out or it would have been a different story[V]
Good to see you are planning for your next van too[^] next time it'll be different, but don't worry you'll still get your value from the breakdown cover;)
The interior of that Portafold on ebay is a bit interesting isn't it:I

Summer's Coming.....
Trust me

A very different story indeed :(

The Portafold is....well, different. I can handle the Leopard print roof lining, with cow print walls and astroturf on the floor BUT Disneys/Pixars Cars curtains??? That is just such a basic interior design no no ;)

Jon&Cara-Gramarye Fontaine

That Portafold would look lovely behind a Triumph Herald Convertible and I am sure they wouldn't mind if you changed the curtains.

Fonty will always be your first love but I am sure you can love another

(Bernie says get the sick bucket) [:X]

Gladys :)
