Fontaine's first week

We are just about to leave. We have some chores in town to do and then get the oil so will hopefully be there for 1ish.

Cake.

we are now no further forward despite hours of wiggling/turning/clunking/shaking/pushing/pulling, the torque converter will not play ball [:(!][:(!][V][xx(][B)]
it was only the triple choc gateau that prevented the sledgehammers involvement :p

Had the old Sierra manual out but no help I'm afraid, doesn't even mention engaging the oil pump with torque conv. Sorry :I

Sorry it does mention engaging the oil pump - it says ' ensure the converter hub is fully engaged with the oil pump drive gear by measuring between the casing flange and the face of the spigot - this must not be less than 10mm.'

torque converter sounds a little scary - can't help there I'm afraid. I can help with the indicators though Jessica just passed her MOT with clear lenses and orange bulbs:D

and Molly (the morris minor) passed hers with clear lenses and clear bulbs on the front (1962 - a good year!)

cheers panky, the best we can get is + 20mm, we even tried standing it upright and lowering the box onto the converter, too many sore fingers now, so jon has taken the box away to find an auto trans place so they can have all the fun ;)

yep, original box and converter. i even called a good mechanic friend who knows them and he said there is no easy way, its a b&^%$£d job [xx(]

Grrrr. Frustrating. We had time to cool off in a phantom accident queue on the A1. That made the day better!! [V]

I don't doubt we'll be up and running soon, we have faith...:)

It just goes to show that sometimes cake can't fix everything - sometimes it can be a hindrance, I'll bet you were all thinking about the next slice and not the job in hand :I
Don't offer the auto-box place any for heavens sake or nothing will get done;)

Placing Torque Converter correctly in bell housing. DONE.
