fluid bottle

Hi everybody this made sound a pretty studid to most if not all of you guys on here but i'm a bit lost ,there is a white stumpy bottle on a bracket at bthe side of the engine bay which has a pipe comming out of the bottom leading towards the drivers side. all it has on it is a writing saying fluid level, i'm a bit concerned because it is now bone dry. WHAT goes in it. help!!!

If it's empty you've got a leak, check the system out for signs of fluid leaking.

quite close to where the clutch fluid goes in, there is a 90 degree turn in the brake pipe and for some reason this is rubber hose joined to the metal pipe with a jubilee clip each end..check these joints for leaks with a decent torch........I was losing fluid from here as the jubilee clip had rotted:)

On both my vans the metal pipes that go from the reservoir to the master cylinder (joined together by the little rubber bends) had rotted through[xx(] I replaced the lot with a length of hydraulic hose from a local engineering supplier. 1.5 metres is plenty and cost about a fiver:)
