Floor repair from heater matrix leakage

Hi All,

The short engine to go in the van is currently being built.
Looking at the van the floor is pretty rusted where the heater matrix had leaked in the past (now fixed).

What's my options for getting this in a roadworthy state:

Can I fibreglass it?
Can I rivet/bolt a plate over most of it?
Could a mobile welder cut and bend a suitable piece to fit?
Any other ideas (I don't really want to replace the whole floor currently!)?

Thanks

Paul.

Ideally it should be cut out and welded. Luckily it looks like an easy enough repair. the only potentially awkward bit is the edge where the engine front cover sits but even that can easily be re-produced.

Yep defo no fibreglass or pop rivets allowed :) simple repair. Cut out rub a piece of card over the hole to get the size of repair and transfer it to some sheet metal (add some for the lip). Touch of hammering to shape and weld it in. Or make it yourself and get a mobile welder to weld it in to save cost

Fibreglass doesn’t flex and moisture will probably get into the join and metal will then rust and you won’t see it?
