Floor advice

I'm intending to put some laminate flooring into my Wanderer and was wondering what I should put under it to provide some protection and support. I was thinking some kind of underlay cut into strips to fill in the gaps in floor ribs (after treating the inevitable rust!)

If you can I'd leave the ribs exposed to allow for air circulation as this should help prevent moisture from collecting for too long. Some thin ply over the floor and then fit the laminate over it maybe?

This is what I used and it's plenty thick enough, but I covered it in vinyl. Laminate needs a good support so I guess you'll need something similar maybe a bit thinner.

Thanks, guys, thats useful. Mine has a rotten play base, so I guess that may be the best to put back. Panky, you said you spread oil and white spirit on the floor - was that to protest it??? Also what was the material you stuck to the sides? Looks nice.

On commeracers advice I spread thinned down oil into all the seams and repairs I did, every little bit helps to keep the rot at bay:I
The stuff I stuck to the sides is the closest I could find to the original patterned vinyl - it's a table protector, two worked out enough less than £15 of ebay for the two.
