hi there everyone how are you all this evening,last night whilst i was in bed asleep i was awoken by a loud crack noise it frit the life out of me, anyway i got up to investigate what had made the noise but couldnt see what it was,so i looked outside the front window to see if there was anything or anyone snooping around outside but again i couldnt see anything apart from strong winds and rain, so i came to the conclusion that i must have just imagined it in my sleep and soi got back into bed and fell back to sleep,in the morning i came out of my house to go to work only to be faced with horror as i looked at my woolfcub camper in disbeleth, that strong wind in the night has only ripped the pop up roof off of the top of my van and bent all the side and end peices, so now im really pi--ed off. so now it looks like im going to have to fit a webasto to the top of it now. oh well.:([V];)

Don't forget there's still a couple of spare roofs kicking around on the forum mate!
 
Very Gutting![:0] frightening how little actually holds roof on.

I still have this one if of any use to you - happy to give you a hand to tidy it up if you have means to collect it.

Bad luck Woolfy,I had remembered what happened to that black autosleeper last year and put a ratchet strap over mine just in case.
There was a gap at the front of the top and i wasn't confident of the silly little catch holding it if the wind got under it. It has pulled it down about an inch.
I hope you can get it sorted OK.

I am surviving woolfy :Dhad a horrible cold surprised my sneezing hasn't flipped Rans roof :)
been wondering for the last 5,000 miles how safe is my roof must do something.....I hear no more nails is pretty good :D

Bad luck woolfy [V] At least now you have an excuse to go the rip-off rout [}:)] Harveys hide away has got a corrugated plastic roof, I fitted some more supports and roof screws the other week just to be on the safe side. Still rattles like mad in the wind, but it's still there :)

I nearly lost the roof on my first van, I was at work and the wind was blowing an absolute hooligan. I just happened to glance at the car park security monitor and there was the roof flapping about at one end. I managed to tie it back down with a piece of washing line we kept in one of the cupboards. The roof was only secured by a couple of over-centre clips on the inside but they didn't break it was the plywood frame one of them was screwed too. Needless to say the repair consisted of a frame twice the thickness and three times as many clips [:(!].
 
Could never see the logic with the autosleeper roof to have two good solid(ish) bolts at the back and one weedy little catch at the front held in by the smallest screws possible which does get to see 70mph on the road once in a while[:0] as well as gales.

Fit was worse on my first van so had an old piece of chunky ships rope wedged between roof and bodywork when parked to keep the wind from getting under it - and had the black straps tying it on in the worst of the gales down at Whitesands. Scary stuff, luckily didn't have a Panky or a Woolfy moment[:0]

Your roof looked more aerodynamic Woolfy, must have been blowing some to get under that. Not sure if my roof would fit for you if you needed it - would have to measure up hole on your roof to see if autosleeper one would cover it.

Webasto would look cool[8D] - fine for short trips, but you miss the chance to stand up straight by day 3 of camping in wet weather[xx(]
 
I think it was middy who bought the black van off ebay who's roof came off after being listed [xx(]
