I was wondering if you guys and girls out there have any advice and if any of you live near Bath that owns a commer my family and my self would love to see how the beds work and the pop top works etc pm me and ill give you all my contact details, also what sort of budget do we need to buy one as we are in a recession and still need to pay the mortgage lol.

Hi Jay and welcome to the Madhouse - you will need to prove yourself mad enough:I
This link will take you to the membership map and you will be able to see who is near to you. It's not complete but it's a start.

As for prices - they are on the up so it's what your pocket can stand I'm afraid. We've seen resto projects for just under a grand to little beauties for around £4K. The choice is limited but they keep coming up, you just need to be patient. Unlike VWs (darkside ;)), where you can pick up the Autotrader and find a dozen in the next street, Commers are comparatively rare but still don't demand VW prices. So get in while they are still affordable - good luck.

Thanks Mate, Ive gone way past Mad as I have ended up with a nick name of monkey and do daft things like run down mountains for fun

Far less strenuous that running up them:I I think you'll fit in well enough:)

Hello Jay and welcome to our forum:)

My wife kept nagging me to go camping and I said no way in a tent, only if we got a camper van.....I managed to get her to look at this forum and read some stories from other owners and now she is hooked for life....just get her to see what a great friendly lot we are and you will soon have her thinking your way

Good luck:D

Hi Jay, welcome to the madhouse, you def sound mad enough...

I'm Enigma's better half :D

We have def had no regrets since buying our van, they are great, not just for camping trips but for days out etc... The people you meet too that just come and talk to you because of the van, its amazing :D[8D]

Cazz...Is smiling again, as Smurf is on the mend!!!!

Darling its not just because of Smurf.....if we had a modern ford ka we would get just as much attention!!......it's you my lover that attracts so much attention!......(puke) lol:D

Lol I'm vain enough for the attension and I'll be used to random peeps as when we take out dads Austin 10 we get all sorts of folks wanting to chat, as for the wife she is sold on the idea of a camper we are now just trying to get to see a commer van with a pop top to see if it's gonna be practical for us all
