First outings

Hi guys,
Really excited as I've got my first outing in the Commer next week - for anyone whos into sailing the Classic and Vintage Racing Dinghy Association [www.cvrda.org] (also known as the Knackered Old Boats Society (KNOBS)) National Championships are at Netley Sailing Club on Southampton Water. Nice camping and boats as old or older than the van so some stunning woodwork on show and real ales in the bar!
After that we're hopefully doing Stokes Bay Festival [www.stokesbayfestival.co.uk] - all local to us as my wife has just badly put her back out and I want to try the bus within 'run and hide' distance of home!
New curtains and seat covers have been fashioned and fitted as temporary ones (pics will follow soon) until the winter, the new garage and some time when I'm not working silly hours so can get fettling. I'm going to live with the carb overrunning and 18mpg for the moment until I can look at it properly and I'm creating a (currently quite short) list of panels needed from Wolfy.
Will keep you updated with progress.

Sounds like a glorious event. Don't know owt about old boats but I do like them. I was smitten by a 1930's tulip wood decked launch in a classic car mag a couple of years ago but couldn't manage the £20K price tag [V]

Gutted. Went to start up the bus and although it turned over freely there was no ignition. Checked through the basics and no fuel is getting through the fuel pump. Not checked the delivery side yet as I ran out of time. Consequently had to sleep in the back of the estate car. :(

Worst bit was having to park between a Mk1 Transit conversion and a V-dub bay both of whom were expecting to see the Commer and enjoyed the bar banter of a no-show. Fortunately I beat them in the racing but it didn't make me feel much better.

No interest yet in the Seabat - they knew what it was though which is more than I did! I'll post something on the website to see if anyone steps forward.
 
Oh no [V] the infamous Commer fuel crisis. Unfortunately there are many others who have had the same problem lately, usually down to crap in the tank. Daft question but have you checked the fuel filter?

Oh dear, I share your woe; as do a good number of others on here!

It is quite possible the fuel pump needs changing, they're about a tenner on Fleabay. If it's "snakeskin" then you need to take the fuel tank off to clean it out. Let me know if I can help you further!
 
Hoping that it's a dodgy pump - there were no starvation issues on the (long) drive home and it seems a few weeks without starting have killed the fuel flow - hopefully something is stuck! I'm not liking the sound of this membrane gunk or the black stuff Commerjules is suffering - if it's that then a shiny new new tank sounds like the best option! Although Dad does have a cement mixer.....
