filter cleaning

Just read the thread on K&N air filters... but how do you clean one??? it says 'from the inside out'?? How do you do that??

edit: DON'T blow it through with an air line.:I When done there's some special oil you can spray onto the filter ........... I think.

Couple of years... I know someone said every 50k miles, but it does look a big clogged, and when you're getting your van ready for the summer you just try to 'do' everything.

You don,t use an airline, it wrecks them:( chances are it doesn,t need cleaning, even if its clogged with crud it will outflow a paper filter. If you really do want to do it, just wash it from the inside with warm water. You can buy K&N filter oil,but use it very sparingly,if overoiled the flow drops. lay a very thin bead on the peak of each pleat and if correct it should wick it up in about 15 mins, My advice is leave it alone ;):(
