FILM NEEDS COMMER

Hi everyone, my name is David. I'm new to the forum. In fact I'm new to the world of Commers ! I'm making a very low budget feature film in October & one of the main elements to the story is the main character goes on a journey in a camper van. When I wrote the script, it was a VW. But we quickly realised, that was just too cliched (& potentially too expensive !). Once I started researching, I quickly realised that Commers were just as pretty & actually a little more interesting. So, at first I thought we'll buy one. And I bought a beat up white 1974 PB Commer from eBay, hoping it wouldn't need too much spending on it to get it through it's MOT. Had it delivered to Martin Maltas, who soon pointed out to me it would need a fair few quid spending. So, I have decided to probably sell my PB Commer, and see if any of the members on here are intersted in hiring us their Commer for the filming. We have very little money & we'll probably need it for around 3 weeks in October. We haven't quite settled on what colours etc we'd like it to be, so I thought the best option was to see if there was any interest ? Martin Maltas has been so helpful & supportive to me in this process and I just hope we can find the perfect van for the film ! Thanks for reading, David x. P.S. We are just in the process of setting up our Blog, which will follow our journey of making the film. So have a read if you interested. The film is semi autobiographical and has personal significance to me. FILM BLOG - http://harrisongledhill.tumblr.com/

Welcome David! Geography might help to narrow your search - where are you planning to film in October?

Have a look at 'Rupert the Van' in readers rides[8D]. Just finishing being restored and going to be on the Commervanfan stand at the NEC in November. If interested be good to hear from you. I am based in London during the week.[8)]

Rupert is painted!!

Hi Rupert, Rupert is really lovely ! What I'm gonna do is show all the interested parties vans to my director (who has very strong ideas about what colour he wants it to be etc), and then we'll see what's what. But I think he'll really love Rupert ! Best regards, David.

hi, just seen the film blog, and the yellow dormobile commer camper belongs to us .:Dif you are interested in useing the van give us a shout.gary and jack[8D]

Hi Dave and welcome to the Madhouse:D
Personally I think Swampsters van would be ideal, as long as you don't mind such a big personality taking over the film - total cool on wheels[8D]

How refreshing

Hi Gary & Jack, lovely Commer ! I'm gonna be meeting with my director next week to show him pics of vans and then we'll see which colour etc. And hi panky, thankyou for the welcome ! D x

Hello David and welcome to the madhouse, hope you have a great success with the film. You don't say where you're from but if you have never been to the Lake district before you're in for a real treat. Also not too far away you have Malham Cove and Haworth, home of the Brontes. If you need any information just ask on here and I am certain that someone will know the answer. Good luck
