It,s because only the H/C lump has just about enough power to pull the o/d gearing [xx(]

actually it isn't the best pic to show it but an overall measurement has the J-type at 12mm longer than the D-type and an initial thought was that the propshafts might not be inter-changeable...but I don't see an issue really...

The sliding joint will hopefully accommodate that 12mm.
