I received a letter this morning from my landlord giving me notice to quit my workshop, as they have reviewed their assets and decided that they could make more effective use of the workshop and adjacent compound which they still use. I have one month to move everything out.
The problem I face is that I have two cars and probably the equivalent of a couple more in spare parts and nowhere else to keep them. I can search for a couple of lock-ups for the short term, but face the very real prospect of having to sell the lot. If I do find somewhere else, I then face the problem of moving them as I no longer have my towcar (fortunately, they can both be moved, but not under their own power). If anyone knows of any storage facilities in the Bury St Edmunds area please get in touch.

Sadly I've heard of this happening too many times:( Hope you get sorted soon, and maybe a bit nearer home.
 
Hope you get it sorted. I know it sounds crazy but have tried random farmers with unused out buildings
 
Met my landlord this morning. I've been given an extension to the end of March. I must now get my finger out and get as much work done as I can. I may well sell my second car, which I was using for reference purposes. It will be for a brave restorer, but is very honest, with the rot visible, not hidden like on the one I am restoring. Although it looks rough, it is probably better than the one I have been working on.
 
I don't mind working in the cold, but the workshop can get very hot in the summer. My main aim will be to get the bodywork completed. Last major job to do is to fabricate and fit a rear wheel arch. I would also like to remove the filler from the rear wings, which was applied to get the rear panels to line up with the pool
rly fitted cover sills, now removed. It's about an eighth of an inch thick in places. Then I can prepare it for paint.

Good luck in your search, least you have a bit more time to find a new workshop. Have you got any pictures of your projects?

I'm always loitering somewhere Jim.:) My transits certainly keeping me busy, all the underneath's done. There's a White Commer on EBay, it looks like it might be to much work for me though.:(
 
Your dedication to this unloved (by many) and rare car is so admirable you've just got to get it finished. Reminds me of how Commers where considered only a few years ago, but, by comparison, a Commer is a common site and well catered for in the spares department - you sir are are one of the unsung hero's of the classic car world. Looks like I might have a new home. Went to see a garage this morning close to the centre of town, formerly part of a builder's yard and close to the famous Jaqueline Close incident (where a whole road of newly constructed houses began to disappear into the chalk caves below) https://subterraneangreenwich.wordp...nds-a-case-study-in-property-blight-part-one/
It is a basic lock-up garage with no power, but it is wider than standard, allowing access to both sides. It is also dry, which will be a bonus for me.
Met the landlady this morning and it turns out she lives on one of the greens off my road. Before I can use it, she needs to shift the contents left by the last tenant. Still need to sell my spare car.
