Absolutely devastating. Truly gutted for you and while it could've been a lot worse, it hurts for me to see it. I can only imagine how you feel.
Metal from car fires can be very dangerous, toxic stuff. I think it's unlikely that it would be released for salvage unless by prior agreement on the policy.
Hope the very sad experience goes smoothly. Wrangles with the insurance company would only prolong the agony and is completely unnecessary.

Its a sad day for all of us here when a Commer dies like this, so glad that you got out OK.Hopefully your insurance will enable you to find a replacement that you will love just as much.

So sorry to hear your news. Thank goodness nobody was hurt. I just hope your insurance claim is hassle free as it's the last thing you need after the loss of your loved vehicle.

So sorry to see the loss of a precious van. We hope the insurance enables you to replace it. Nothing can replace memories - you still have these! Try and find another van and refix the 'C' -The Commer will then live on! With our Best Wishes Mike - Clarabel and Co.

I hate seeing pictures like this, what a great shame. I know how I'd feel if that happened to me, very sorry for you.

I need to get my manifold cut by Tim as the carb does get too hot to touch on warm days and has expanded enough for the fuel inlet to loosen. Definitely not safe!

My son works for an insurance assessors. Fires are treated as catA or catB. catA means the shell must be crushed, some parts may be useable. CatB means the vehicle must be scrapped, not put back on the road, but all parts maybe used.
