Those seats look much more supportive that standard Commer items, do you mind me asking what they came from ?

Is that additional soundproofing you've added to the front panel ?

I've lost a lot of photos but this was the general condition of it, it had been stood outside for 20 years [V]

not that these show you much! Since then I have had a corner, side panel, lower side panel and two door bottoms fitted, bumpers top grille and petrol filler neck re chromed and so the list goes on. You may think theres a big hill to climb with Bluebell, there is, but get get the dirty work out of the way and you'll crack it (that was going to be profound but I did'nt get there:I)
 
Wow, what a huge difference...Is that really the same van? Thanks for those, big inspiration :D
We do have a big hill to climb and lots of learning to do too!!! The stripping down etc, yes it is horrible, but we will get there in the end :D But then even in the worse bits we find little things that make us smile.

Dont know why my reply is all over the place!

The seats were standard in the deluxe model, however they are exactly the same seats Rootes put in the Sunbeam Alpine. Parts bin engineering eh?:) The front panel was already in, its a piece of birch ply and foam, I've just covered it with leather:p
 
If you bring up the little link, that lets you put an imagine inbetween, looks like this i think link to pic[IMG]... click on enter after the last [IMG] bracket and your text should appear under or photo, or type above if want the text to appear b4 the pic, just make sure no text is on the same line..

Its really good to know the seats are out of an alpine. The foam has collapsed on one of my seats so I'll get in touch with one of the suppliers to see if they can get me some new foam and rubber base

The black platform under the seat is called a pirelli web, it is thin rubber with clips on each corner, I repaired my mates fastback rapier seat with one which I got from my local upholsterer, my local upholsterer said they are not made anymore, he had some old stock of it and had one which just fit the seat. If there is a upholsterer near you it may be worth asking if he has any. West Midlands Alpines are ok but they take your eyes out with spoons!
 
I had the panels welded on by someone but did all the prep myself, its only had one coat of paint on from new and no filler so it was quite straight forward as I didnt have to dig old filler out and fight through layers of paint. I then took it round a mates garage who applied the final coats ;)
 
I see the engine cover is'nt standard, did you make that one? Just seeing that is going to make me de-rust and sharpen my woodworking tools!

Nice to know you've been inspired!, the engine cover I think is standard, I just stripped and re-polished the frame. I also re-veneered the dash with burr oak, looks a bit like an old walnut dash now.
 
Engine cover was an option in some Autosleepers, I put one in Lucy. Much nicer than the metal top :)
