I had a problem about 2 years ago that after 1 hour and 45 minutes the engine would stop and no fuel would come through, I changed carburator, coil, distributor, upgraded to electronic inginition (lumenition) i think, replaced fuel pump even and still no joy. In the end I found out that the fuel was boiling as unleaded burns hotter than 4* and the mechanical pump couldnt suck gas, so I replaced it with an electronic fuel pump positioned near the fuel tank and new fuel line, which totally solved it. With experience now I understand that the fuel pipe arrangement needs adjusting with a breather pipe as small as i can get from just before the carborator running back into the tank so that the system can get rid of any excess pressure, as sometimes if you stop then start within say 10 mins the engine takes a few turns to start, as opposed to on the button as usual.
