Hi guys. I have finally got my new commer autosleeper horay!! I need some advice please. Friendly plumber popped round to check my gas fridge as i have no idea and wanted to check it's all ok etc. He said shouldn't the be an exhaust vent to the outside? I have tried google but I don't really heed a hoover filter so i am hoping someone can advise? Thanks
 
Cool excellent thanks for the help. I was wondering if there had been rust and so just removed and filled etc
 
There certainly should. Back in the day converters thought it was fine to vent off the carbon monoxide into the van:eek:

There are more period looking outside covers, you just need to be patient and wait for one to come along - like this one

This just replaces the modern plastic external cover.
 
Hi. Thanks. Yes just been looking at that ebay one. If he is 1972 he may not have had a vent in the first place?
 
No he wouldn't but I would fit one if you don't want to die:eek:
I stripped out the interior of my Auto-Sleeper a good few years ago, the cabinet frame above the fridge vent had charred to the point where I would have expected it to catch fire - even though there was a rudimentary heat shield tacked to the timber. I fitted a vent pretty damn quick. Obviously the vent is for running the fridge on gas but if you are running on electric then there's no problem.
 
Cool. I will look into fitting vent but i am thinking work needed v amount of times i would actually fire up fridge so may just keep it as an insulated box and cap off gas. I have no skills at chopping holes on panels etc lol
 
That's a plan. One of our members, Zena, uses her fridge as a cupboard to keep her make up in - I think I scared her into not turning it on;)
 
Mmmmm, on second thoughts may have to get back to red wine. Mind you with the heat at the moment mulled wine is a viable option
 
If there's no hook-up for the cool box then a couple of packs of ice cubes thrown in over the cans will last a couple of days:)
I usually freeze half a dozen cans and put them at the bottom to help.
 
I was thinking of proper hook up with mini consumer unit but i think a leisure battery and all in one rcd site extension lead would be simpler
