Electrics and wires...

When I stripped out the van one of the wires in the running front to back was melted, red wire which feeds the rear lights, must've shorted somewhere. so I'm making up a new half loom for now running from under the dash, through the passenger pillar and through the roof to the rear. I've ordered 16amp thin wall 1.0mm2 cable. That seemed to be the only you can get in the various colours. It's turned up and it's so thin but I guess 16amp is 16amp! The question is is 16amp sufficient to run the rear lights, indicators, etc. etc. could never get my head around wiring :) Ta

If rear bulb is 21/15w and indicators are 15w(?) then with them all on at the same time then 8.5amp. Having a trailer on the back may cause issues?

Cheers, all separate wires each one being 16.5amps. The only one that feeds multiple bulbs is the red wires to do both rear lights and the number plate light, I got a 25amp cable for that. Very good point about the trailer though, makes me wonder if adding the trailer may have burnt that out. I was going to go bigger but the at 25amp but they only have very basic colours available and wanted to keep it standard loom colour.

Lol forgot all the +ve are different wires:rolleyes: I suppose it only really matters if they share the same -ve wire?
