Electric hook ups

So I know a few of you have got vans that are kitted out with electric hook-ups. With the winter setting and and still a potential to go to sites with a hook up and keep toasty warm I am wondering whether I can simply have a hook-up with something like this into the van..

Is it "normal" domestic juice that comes out or will I have to be careful about what I run off it and should I be going fro something with a circuit breaker in and finally... does Nathan have a deal he can do for me :D
 
Yes to normal domestic juice - although circuit breaker highly recommended as friend down the road is having to help refit a very expensive horsebox/camper as took to to a campsite which connected their mains supply to a 400v generator[:0] also good protection anyway in case of shorting damp electrics.

Can also recommend having a second extension outdoor cable for those campsites where you end up having to park over 10 metres away from hook up point.;)

Don't have mains hook up in Bessie, but have a trailer tent with it fitted - pretty useful, especially when Glyns' kids want to rough it with the dvd player, colour tele and microwave!
 
I have another lead which is short,has a plug on 1 end & the round end,for use at home to camper,I think some people use these in their workshops as well.took me a while to sus it out.Ran has a junction box in the little corner cupboard at the back,next to the cooker.
 
You should run the hookup lead into an RCD, always fitted in new vans. Chicko has a loose lead , with an RCD attatched to the end, saves screwing things to the van. :)
 
the last 2 vans i've had i converted to hook up by getting a little circuit breaker box from a caravan breakers,fit that in a cupboard or corner of toilet room and run supply wire through floor attached to plug underneath (under back step on van i have at mo) then work out route for internal wire and sockets,wire can then be hidden behind cupboards etc or in conduit.Hope this helps admin,certainly worth doing as it's really nice having electric heater and sandwich toaster.[8D]
 
of course working with motorhomes all day i have a mains trip box built into my battery charger from which i can charge my engine and leisure battery and run all my mains sockets and the fridge[8D];) but on a serious note most sites run normal 240v but an rcd is critical but also the law now states for campsites that leads must be orange with blue plugs but also 10 meters long. worth noting! mmmm our van was toasty at tewks he he
 
no one told me off :Imines white I thought the ones for use abroad had to be orange(maybe it said european union)perhaps I had a blond momment [:eek:)]
 
Nate you have my number perhaps you can text through an offer for appropriate standalone orange lead/blue plug/rcd combo??
