electric fuel pump.

I ordered an electric in line pump yesterday and have a few questions.
Where is the best place to mount it?(bearing in mind I have an ally tank) filter before or after it?
Do I leave the mechanical pump in place or make a blanking plate?
What is the best route for the fuel pipe up the n/s bearing in mind the exhaust is on that side of the engine???

Cheers

If it's a Facet they are usually mounted as close to the tank as possible, you could make a bracket to hang it off one of the tank mounting bolts or fit it to the rear number plate panel on rubber bobbin mounts. A filter before the pump is a good idea as you don't know what crap gets washed in when you fill up. I would run the pipe along the side of the main chassis rail on the opposite side to the exhaust. You could fit a blanking plate or simply remove the operating lever on the fuel pump.
You should also consider fitting a fuel pressure regulator, you only need one or two PSI to supply the carb - any more and you will be forcing in fuel that you don't need.

Cheers. It supposedly has a pressure switch in it but will see. The fuep pipe from tank to mech pump is new so will reuse that, the extra length needed can be used at the tank end between tank, filter and pump.

ITS ALIVE AND ITS A MONSTER.

Cheers. Just had a look. Only difference so far is my tank outlet is bang in the middle. I see now what goes where but what about the routing up to the carb from the chassis? I only have the one cos not a v8 (yet) and the exh manifold and down pipe are in the same area. A lad at work torched an Octavia today by not clipping a fuel pipe correctly. Fell onto exhaust. There is nothing left of that car or road now. Don't want that happening.

Run it up and in front of the radiator that, way it approaches the carb from the same direction as original.
