Signed all the previous ones on this subject. In the current financial climate I can't see them agreeing to waive a source of income.

If any petition gets a 100,000 signatures then it has to be debated in parliament. Long way to go yet:I

Say 500 signatures, scaled up thats 61,000/year.

Nearly 6000 signatures in the first month.

Nearly up to 8000 at the end of the second month.

Seems to be running out of steam.

Interestingly, an e-petition reaching 100,000, on a referendum to leave the EU, was voted out of the Commerons last week, some claiming bad timing with the Greek problems, bail-out and all that...
 
and voted out despite the lack of following the 3 line whip (sounds obscure to me!!)
 
Interesting thought wasn't it. The people want a vote on the EU so the MPs decide to vote on if we can have a vote on it and voted against it.

Anyone for democracy...?
 
Of further interest, four e-petitions have now reached the magic 100,000 figure.

However, Robert Halfon MP's campaign for cheaper fuel and petrol prices, has been denied a debate by the Backbench Business Committee[V]
 
Okay, the latest, MP's are debating high fuel prices today and Robert Halfen's e-petition that has sparked it remains live at over 110,000 signatures...

Robert Halfon is my local mp I have spoken to him a few times b4 if I c him around I'll ask about any real chances of this working
