dynamo wiring

Getting closer to driving this thing. Few more things to sort out, like the wiring for the dynamo. Wiring diagram shows wire to light, power and earth. Don’t think that worked because some smoke come out of it. Will probably just put a aftermarket alternator on it but still curious to know where those three wires, should of gone. I did read a voltage stabiliser??? All my wiring is gone, was half pulled out when I got it so iv rewired it. Thanks

This is for a Morris Minor but it would have been similar to a Commer, probably different wire colours

Probably on the front panel somewhere, under the parcel tray. I've only ever worked on vans with alternators so just guessing.
It'll look something like this
