Doors! & Locks!

Can anyone tell me how you strip the glass out of the doors of a Dodge spacevan please!

And is there an easy way of getting the door locks out?

firstly you have to wind the window down and remove the rubber and felt weather proofing strips in the frames. then remove the door cards and drill out the rivets holding the channel that seperates the window from the quarterlight (there normally rotten so just fall off). then you will need to undo the 4 screws holding the window winding mechanism inplace to allow it to drop so you can remove the guide from the casing that moves the window up and down.
carefully let the glass drop all the way to the bottom.
on the door frame around the outside edge of the quarterlights you will find either rivets or screws (past repairs dependant) undo these and the qarterlight should with a little persuasion pull towards the hole where the window should be (be carefull of the glass at the bottom of the door) remove quarterlight unit if it hasnt fallen to bits then just reach down and pull the glass out.
door locks are very similair to an avenger in rear construction and unfortunatly are an absolute pain and also require hands as small as a 2 year olds to disconnect.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for that matey! I had a go today with my mate. We got so far stripping the door down but got stuck with the glass! We thought there would be rivets holding it but we couldn't see them! I will have another go next week.

We managed to get the door lock off but what a nightmare! It will be fun putting it on 'X-Box'!!

Have you still got the windscreen mate? If so I will have to come over and collect it. Thanks again mate.

Cheers mate I will bell you and sort it out! I don't suppose you have the wiring and back cover that goes on the back of the ignition I can put a picture up if your not sure what I mean.

Cheers

Alan.

Have a look in "practical classics" this month. They do a tech article on making new keys and how to get them to fit your old locks
