My Co2 regulator will be here any day now so i am going to take the plunge today [:0] im going to attempt to make my passenger inner sill :I im hoping to do it in 2 half's then clamp them up ready to be welded in [^] making them out of a nice lump of galvonised sheet metal i have layed my hands on so once they are done they should last very well. will add a few pics of progress later on if it works lol

When I was an apprentice the welders where issued with milk to drink if they where welding galvo, must neutralised some of the acid produced:I
Looking forward to seeing you latest handywork Paul
yh i think that is why. also your meant to drink milk before welding galvo as it lines the stomach and protect it apparently. latest handywork has gone well mate. inner sills are not to hard to make just a bit fiddly pics will be on after dinner for your oggling pleasure mate lol

Had my he man juice and started simple. cut out the rot
and made up a nice new replacement piece just need to clean it up now
made up my first ever inner front sill not perfect but turned out very nicely. made it up in 2 sections then also made up the repair section for the wheel arch behind the sill
yh. its a special design. easy to move and when you want to bend something you just stand on em to hold em down then pack them away neatly under your wheels

My regulator turned up today anyone fancy explaining how to set it up and what pressure the co2 should run at. problem is it keeps spluttering and dont seem to be penetrating the gap propperly. (first time i ground back a couple of welds it fell off) i did however get it on in the end and im pretty confidant it wont fall off when i grind it back i do however need to fill in a couple of bits (got dark lol)
this is my first attempt at welding solo so remember, be gentle but honest hahaha :I:I
it is now on and seems solid. i can hold it and pull it without it budging. and i think im getting the hang of using the welder. its just the setup thats beating me. also is it normal for the co2 to seep out why your not holding the trigger? as im paranoid that im losing gas when i shouldnt lol. been turning the tap off between welds any advice and dare i say criticism [B)] is welcome

Oh Dear :I well we all have to start somewhere, and you,re giving it a go [^]
You want about 15-20 L/PM on the gauge. Turn the welder flat out and do it in a series of short overlapping tacks, like spot welds. Looks like you,re laying down too much filler too soon without giving the material a chance to warm up.
You should not have any gas coming out until you pull the trigger. Could be a leaky shut off valve
"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
so does that mean i need to turn the wire speed down? i will pick it up pretty quick once i get the setup right. but was hard to set it up as i didnt want to run to much co2. may even be half my trouble lol

If the wire speed is too high it will be harsh and tend to spit alot, too low and it will splutter and burn back to the tip. It should have a nice steady crackle to it. Get some scrap and weld it while you turn the wire speed up/down and you will see the effects and soon find the sweet spot
"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"
sweet will try that. to be honest it was all a bit rushed today. all i wanted to do was practice on a bit of scrap but then thought what the hell. tomorrow i can just grind off the poop bits and re-do it propperly lol. but towards the end i seemed to be getting the hang of it so im confidant i will do better tomorrow once i have tweaked the set up abit
