well, i tried putting a live on the fuel guage and .... no movement. looks like i may need a new fuel guage. should there be an earth wire on it, i have 2 green wires on one side and a dark green the other.

ah k, i left the wires attached lol. i have been looking at the wiring diagram and noticed something. there are several earth wires that were all attached to the back of my temp guage, but on the diagram they look like they are meant to be on the fuel guage? diagram is so confusing lol

its an old trick mate, just rub itinto the plastic, leave for 10 mins then buff off and polish. its not perfect but it certainly works m8 lol. wouldnt lick it if i was you lol, tastes like polish now lol. i have been painting various bits up today. mirror clamp is now done, fuel guage is drying. revers switch bracket and timed wiper bracket are done, evan sanded down the screw heads and painted them, should look a lot better and cleaner when its all back in place

hopefully they will be dry soon so i can do another coat. the fuel guage has turned out well so im doing them all the same way. except the speedo. unfortunately this means the speedo will not be a perfect match. but to be honest it is in such good condition it seem'd a bad idea to attack it with sandpaper:D

lol, yh, the silver was gone so thought i would try it. turned out well but my moddeling knife went dull so the edge on the round section is a bit iffy. will be rectafied soon as i get a new knife lol. was thinking about moving the guage into the wood next to the dash but it would leave holes in the dash where the bracket was. im now considering putting the temp guage in there on top of the dash and the vac guage in the dash
