Dolly The Autosleeper

cheers guys, already my hands are dirty lol, not sure water is pumping round the engine, how full should the rad be? should it be just up to the coils or up to the top as pipe sits above them. and trying to get headlights working lol. also sussed the problem with the temp guage. broken terminal so will get that changed

I find the level usually settles out about half way between the top of the coils and the filler.

Well done Paul. All you need now is a little Mig welding wire, a couple of sheets of steel and a few spare hours :) Keep us posted :p

did notice it only has 1 bunk and the overdrive is on a stalk but the pop top is fairly good

we have headlights lol, switch terminals had gone manky. stripped it down, sanded them and now they work sweet. gonna do the same with all the switches me thinks

Well done Paul :p looks fairly normal Commer condition, Hours of welding fun ;)

"You,re only supposed to blow the bloody SLIDING doors off"

Very similar repairs were needed for our van too. That dent in the door is caused by having no door straps - The wind would have blown it open too far:( same thing happened to mine. Infact Jon(Fontaine) and myself watched it happen:( well done on the purchase, look forward to seeing how you tackle the work;)

We were inside my house looking out of the window. I'd been out there doing work earlier and forgot to shut the door properly before coming inside for the evening. Something like that[B)][:(!]

yeah the clock is definately staying lol ding in the door is a shame i will have to get straps hoping to clear it all out tomorrow and then start stripping it out unfortunately its been hand paint and has some runs so will need paint

Congratulations on getting Dolly home Paul. She looks like a good base for a sound van. Don't be daunted by the bodywork, it's a bit like eating an elephant - take it one bite at a time. :D

'I intend to live forever - so far, so good'

lol, cheers. just been trying to figure out how i can get to the inner sills without losing the fluted panels as wanna keep them on till i can afford all the new panels. thinking i may have to cut the fluted panels off, do the work, then stitch them back on. and gotta figure out whats going on with my indicators/hazzards

i expect a bit of damp has got into the electrics:( take hazard switch off and make sure terminals are nice and clean;) indicators could be bad earthing[?]

yh maybe, or bulbs, if i indicate left the light comes on but doesn't flash, indicate right and nothing, hazzards. left front flashes fast. will clean up all the terminals and change the bulbs. fuses are all good. temp guage will be sorted tommorrow plus i need to check the fuel sender (gauge doesn't move, but may just have virtually no fuel in it lol)
