well today is the day i spend some time tinkering :) hopefully tonight i will have newly fitted cab carpet, and my bonnet ect re fitted. un-fortunately mel had a little misshap involving the angle grinder and my wiring loom :( only 2 wires but the bonnet and hatch had to cone back out to get to them [:(!] on the bright side i can have a fiddle with the front hatch and try to get it to fit properly. exhaust should be re-clamped ect today and maybe even some red oxide in the back [^] who knows. maybe i will even get the radio wired in :D

i need to re fit my brake reservoir as well [V] on closer inspection i realised the 2 short bits of rubber hose were pretty old so they had to come out (i wont take no chances on my brakes)

sorry for the late info guys, i had a very long day yesterday... AT THE ZOO :D:D:D:D[8D] yes thats right, dolly made it. got up at 6am got straight out there to clean up plugs ect. she still missfired slightly but she was happy enough. she did the 25 mile trip there in 1 go [^] we had a fantastic day out and to be honest i was expecting trouble on the way home as things were going to well, but... she made it back no problem as well. when i got there i was im my spot putting up the roof when i heard a monkey shouting its head off. i looked up and there he was sitting in the top of his enclosier looking straight at me :) we have decided to start collecting rolled pennies from each place we go so i got 1 for the zoo (dollies first trothy [^] ) im really chuffed with her for making it, i did take loaads of pics and will upload them as soon as my pc is working right [:(!] i even have a sneaky theory about my missfire involving the coil ???

The rolled pennies are great and we too have accumulated quite a few.Amelia loves turning the handle to roll them out and they do make great souvenirs.:p
I also had the same problem with my exhaust, flange kept coming loose but an extra clamp onto the transmission fixed that for me as well.:D

Today the rear exhaust strap broke, we were shure the rattling was coming from up front. was surprised to see it was by the back wheel.

Great to hear about your trouble free trip to the ZOO.

since then i took dolly to work yesterday :p she looked fantastic parked up on the road. nobody could just walk past :D 1 older chap just stoop looking round her for nearly an hour :D today i adjusted the dizzy to slow the tick over and see if it would help the running issues, it did [^] still not perfect but ten times better (think it needs to be brought down a tad more)

Cool pics and video Paul, and even cooler that you are actually now getting some use from Dolly..........considering you had not welded before, I think you have done a great job! ...much braver than me, I wanted to have a go and I did and failed miserably, so well done mate:D[8D][8D]:D

I considered buying Dolly ages ago, purely to break her up for spares, I'm SO glad I didn't;)

Looking good mate.
I too have been red oxide painting but its underneath. The colour is growing on me (literally. I'm wearing most of it!)
tempted to paint the outside in it!!

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

lol im glad you didnt buy her and break her too lol. i love her to bits. been playing with timing today. looks like thats the cause of my missfiring ect. little more tweaking and i think she will be fine :) red oxide is messy stuff mate, i still gotta do underneath but there is some tidying up i wanna do first lol. i considered doing the outside but decided against it in the end. im thinking about getting a few colour matched rattle cans so she is all one colour soon

yup, im gonna keep hold of it til i can order the rest then fit it all 1 bit at a time so i can figure out where the problem was and keep any good bits as spares :) i am trying to find someone local who can do a compression test as thats another possible miss fire cause. im also gonna strip and clean my su carb but not had the guts yet. never stripped/cleaned a carb before. any advice?

Paul, DIY compression tester:)

http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_odkw=brush+on+re+paint&_osacat=0&_from=R40&_trksid=p2045573.m570.l1313.TR10.TRC0.A0&_nkw=compression+tester&_sacat=0

Dead easy on a commer, I check mine at least once a year.
Just remove all spark plugs and test one cylinder at a time at cranking speed.
