yes another fine example left yesterday, after a disasterous start to the day. when rich the owner dropped off the very first time he was having trouble with his starter motor not working properly. the second time he came up he installed a brand new one but never got around to checking if it was ok before leaving for home due to a flat battery and time not being on his side. when he came yesterday to collect the van and turned the key it was just doing nothing, just silence . we got the booster jump starter out and still nothing, so off came the brand new starter once again. we conected it up whilst off of the van and it was as dead as a do do. so we went back to plan b and reinstalled the old motor, after connecting it all up we flicked the key only to here the motor spinning but not engauging or turning over the van. so we played around with the wires some more but then we found we had no ignition lights or any main lights at all, it was all getting very frustrating for all of us and time was running out they had to be getting on the road to head home. so we wired it back up to the first position where it was just spinning and the main lights were working, and decided to tow it to jump start it. poor old rich drove all the way home and even had to pull in to the petrol station to fill up without switching the engine off. i hope he gets things sorted asap as it was a bit of a shame. but i would like to stress that it was nothing we had done ,as we wernt down to change the starter to start off with. the van looked great though so not a bad day after all i suppose.;):p[?][?][?]
 
I can understand how you feel Woolfy, don't be so worried mate, nobody is pointing any fingers at you mate......like you said, you were restoring the body, not the mechanics, you did over and above to help out..... you did a mighty fine job mate[8D]

these things happen, you should be very proud of what you have done to that van and as you said its was no fault of your own:D

Having coughed up £1k of your own money to put right something the customer hadn't even noticed will do you no harm long-term Woolfy. It's the sort of thing that makes people come knocking on your door. In a relatively small market (re Commers) reputation counts very highly in most potential customer's minds. Sometimes even higher than costs!
