DODGE SUPERVISTA

Back to France again this week in the Blue Toaster. Been doing a lot of work including the new full exhaust system from Martin, servicing, all nipples greased (jokes alllowed again), and fixing some shaky engine on tickover using the brilliant colortune and wd40 which showed only running on three on idle. Boiled down to a tiny air leak on number 4 on the manifold gasket to head, all perfect now. Also bought a new compression tester as the old one (though brand new) showed 120 psi per cylinder which worried me after a rebuild. The new one showing 190psi per cylinder I guess as it’s skimmed to an inch of its life! Not sure would want to go higher than that but sets it up nicely for the Vizard mod.
Also fitted new rear seats for the kids as the old Renault Espace seats down the middle we’re a right pain to climb over during the day, these from a mini bus with chopped down frames and mounted on unwin rails so clip out when at campsites, the frames remain under the bench seats. Over winter putting a new interior in that will lengthen the benches and move the seats nearer the edge to allow the seats to stay in all the time. The seat bases will sit flush with the cushions, should work a treat. Wish me luck :)

Ta guys. I’ll try get some done this week if get time - forgot to take photos of the cutting and welding but should be able to cobble something together hopefully

Made it to Poole blue toaster playing nicely @60 mph all the way, got 25mpg which happy with fully loaded and pulling a trailer...9:15pm ferry tonight then on to Loire Valley for a week and the then the coast.

Lovely trip down last night A34 accident just in front of me shut the road till 2:30am, fortunately the police allowed everyone to turn round and drive back up the wrong way to the last junction at midnight. Arrived at 1:30am...ouch!

Just picked up a Humber Hawk rear diff at a good price with a 4.2 ratio which hoping should drop straight in should be a 12% final drive reduction from my 4.77 and bring 70mph at around 3300 revs with my 14” wheels skinny tires and overdrive. Hopefully fit it after the season ends so will let people know if all’s ok. Could be a good mod

After a summer of pulling to the right and getting worse even with new shoes (sanded for high spots loads) and a piston sometimes all you can do is start again considering it’s pretty cheap to do so. Drums machined, one was oval apparently and that was the good side, new shoes again and new flexi pipes - I suspect it’s one of the pipes that’s collapsed internally causing a violent pull under harder breaking...got a feeling I might have clamped it during the piston swap- doh.

Fed up with the plastic clip on figure of 8 awning channels I fell on these for old VW’s on EBay. They have metal brackets so no drilling into the roof. Gutters are fair bit different so some modding with a dremmel and work perfect, got a 3 meter awning so another 2.5m to fit. Plan to eventually make a leather cover so can keep the awning rolled up and fitted all the time.
