DODGE SUPERVISTA

Nice bit of whittling :)
Conventional 'over centre' caravan mechanisms should work, like these

Are you re-using what was there or buying new roof lights?

I was sure you could get a modern equivalent but I cant find any either, I can only suggest a caravan breakers. The kitchen door openers sound a possibility though

A__DDB7.jpg thanks for looking...I couldn't work out if I was searching for the wrong thing or just can't buy em! I've ordered these that are cheap but means I need to hinge it on the roof...rather not drill that though

3 hours trying to get the second one on...made no sense why it wouldn't drop on. Resorted to silicon spray all over the mount and jumping up and down on the engine...proper mechanics ☺ well relieved when it finally popped in.

gearbox was fun on my own...but done it three times now so getting the knack.

been running it at a few different revs now, v nice indeed, bit tappety so will reduce then down a thou or two on inlet and exhaust

I seem to remember using a similar technique:D You did remember the earth strap on the passenger side mount?

Thanks for the comments. Don't think there was an earth strap on or (I've more likely misplaced it). Trip to Halfords this am and mounted directly to the block and chassis, seems to do the job.
Put a cold air feed in today too, should make a difference for little money.

A__168F.jpg got some ever so slightly illegal plates made up at the restoration show today...sure the van looks the part to not get bothered outside of MOTs. Both are black and silver like the back one but interesting what the flash does to the front plate.

just tried em on, school boy error...thought the back plate was square on a commer! Mixed up with my old Celica...doh. Will see if looks ok otherwise wasted some notes on that!

My mate had black and silver number plates on his 1977 mini. When someone smashed into it the insurance company wouldn't pay out because the car was legally required to have reflective plates.

Thanks for the info Andy - read various stories from it doesn't really matter to scary ones like this. Not questioning you but wondering - is it an proper mate or forum banter? if it's genuine it is interesting that insurance could refuse to pay. The law is (a potential) £1000 fine, deletion of the plate or failed MOT as I understand it. Not paying a claim is surprising, they might try but it would surely be up to the insurer to prove the accident was a direct result of the number plates being the wrong colour, hard as the only reason for change to reflective was so they can be seen at night (probably by police). Most insurers pay out even without MOT's as the car needs to be classed as un-roadworthy.

It is rolling with the Tax so at least so I could put them on the wall for 4 years I guess :)

'Fraid it's got nothing to do with the rolling historic tax exemption, the reflective plate law date just happened to coincide with the original cut off date, save them for shows;)
