DODGE SUPERVISTA

You're just showing off with that engine stand now;)
I hate to say it but the bores look OK, you can still see the honing marks from the last re-bore. You probably only need new rings but as you've already got the new pistons call it a performance up-grade with the extra cc's

:) they do yep... No lips or anything, whilst it's apart might as well I guess but I'll let the experts take over from here, I think they'll have all the rings in stock if they say that's the way to go... They used to do all the GPO vans in the area. Noticed the pistons do say +30 on them through the coke not sure how I missed that before.

Remember the lower ratio the final drive the higher the gearing so if you do have a 3.88 don't change it for a 4.2, unless you want better acceleration and higher revs;)

I'm confused which is easily done :)

The one in changing it for us the correct one for a Spacevan currently has one that makes it rev higher so only does 60 comfortably..the newer one should drop the revs.. Been a while since looked into it so forgotten all the numbers :) hopefully going the right way on it all Jon

I just swapped Ted's diff from a 4.22 to a 3.7 which has upped the gearing quite a lot. The easiest way to check the ratio is to jack one rear wheel up, put a Typex mark on the diff flange and road wheel then turn the wheel one full revolution and count the number of times the diff inlet flange turns. Dived the number of diff turns by 2 and this will give you the ratio.

Thanks Panky...was going on what Steve and Rich told me when I bought it i.e. that it doesn't have the standard Spacevan diff on...I've just re-looked it up - usually they have a 4.77 standard but mine has a 5.12. The one I have in the garage to put on is a 4.77 . I probably should double check before swapping but they way she revs even with an overdrive at 60-65 make me pretty sure they're right.

I heard you once got 90 out of yours  if I get close to that I'll be:

1) Happy
2) Scared to death

It had to be done - just once:) It was way off the clock and even allowing for the speedo inaccuracy with the OD it was pushing over that, still creeping up too and I ran out of road - on a private road of course and before the engine re-build;) That engine sings when you push it:cool:
Harvey's running a 4.7 too, the acceleration is fine

My speedo goes off the clock at 55! Think I put a wrong new speedo drive cog in the OD when I rebuilt it. Think ill print my own back for it and calibrate on gps

I polished up the water pump to a nice shine :). The side cover was really bent when I check it out against a metal ruler so spent time with a hammer and pliers getting it all straight(ish) again. Hoping it will stop leaking now so don't need to splash out on a custom cover. Need to cut back on ambitions slightly with the shares mare going on...wheels may have to stay as is for now rather than banding and coating etc, save it for Summer.

the engine done almost... Got a call as i hadn't marked #1 on the dizzy whoops not really sure how they can time it up now. Need to pop along tomorrow.. Got a picture but not great really hopefully they can work it out from that. Pop top canvas has gone away for renewing today also hopefully bits coming back soon.

This might help:)
