whats the difference in a petrol exhaust and a diesel exhaust - is it something that is obvious?

any idea of the diameter because mine seems quite small - I know I was looking to source one when the Dog was with Woolfy but he ended up getting one from somewhere to get me by -

well there we go - the silencer on the dog is 17"x4" so it looks like its got a petrol exhaust on it! - that could explain a few things. What effect does an undersized exhaust have on performance?

but before i go - one last question, what should the actual pipework diameter be, my downpipe all the way to the silencer is 1.5" diameter
