Got my Spacevan tipped over 50 degrees so that I can clean it up and do the welding as required. Most of it is pretty solid.
Whilst its over I plan to fit a hidden towbar bracket.

Great idea and much better than laying on your back but please put some extra supports in before you start chopping away, those axle stands look like they could slip on that nice shiny floor[xx(]

Or could put a pole and a beam across the joists and use some strong rope to hold it all up, providing the roof is strong enough............
 
Thanks for your safety concerns.
I removed the extra supports just while I took the photo.
I do agree it looks unsafe, but now supported with much more timber and straps.
Welding starts this week.

On the towbar front.... a BMW E36 saloon detachable towbar fits with surprisingly little mods to it, Have a look in my readers ride thread for pics.

I sorted my garage into 4 piles of stuff.
1. Stuff I`m keeping
2. Stuff I`m not getting rid of.
3. Stuff I might use..one day.
4. Stuff that might come in handy.

I'm dissappointed I won't have my Spacevan driveable for Commerfest.
I had hoped it would be ready by now, but as you see it is still up on its side.
Good news is the welding is finished, underside blasted, Zinc phosphate primed and 2 coats of epoxy paint.
towbar fitted and battery box moved to passenger footwell from behind the seat.
It has been much more work than I anticipated, but soon be getting to the nicer jobs.
Can't wait to get it back on 4 wheels.
PS Safety supports just removed for taking the pictures.

Looking great, the underside looks brilliant. Bet you'll be very proud the first time you take your can out once completed.

Is your garage now full of grit, or did you take it elsewhere to blast?

Hi Guys,
I'm now working on the front suspension of my Spacevan and need some advice.
The front hub carrier has 2 threaded pivot pins top and bottom. Mine have quite a bit of play in them but the manual says don't confuse wear with space for the grease to go. How much play is acceptable?

Difficult to tell off the van, grease does take up quite a bit of play, I always do them before a test. The bushes are not for our vans.
 
Not sure where they got the idea that those bushes would fit:rolleyes:
If you suspect they are worn it would be a shame not to do them while they are off as you've put so much work into the rest of the van. What are the inner ones like?
