I've been checking my own tracking for years. I noticed a very slight feathering on both front tyres today, so brought out the home made jig.
The jig is made out of scrap planks screwed and glued into C shape like this...........
There's a long countersunk screw in the end of each arm like this.......
The gap between the screw heads is just enough to go either side of the front tyres. With the help of an assistant, put the head of one screw against the rim at the front and measure the gap on the other side with an ordinary tape measure. Then repeat at the back of the wheel. The difference is the toe measurement.
Today mine was 2mm out. Now corrected.
