Dipstick location?

Ridiculous though it may sound I cannot for the life of me see where to return the dipstick that we took out of my van about a month ago. Can anyone help with polite suggestions please. There's lots of oil and muck about so very difficult to see.

Although this shows a SU conversion the dipstick is in the same place, you can just see it on the bottom left.

Indeed and many thanks. Mine doesn't have a shank/channel and goes straight into the sump area. Thanks again I'll try again tomorrow.
 
There should be a tube sticking out of the block that the dipstick pushes into directly below where the bracket is on the manifold. If it's not there then the dipstick will be going in to far giving a false reading:(
 
Great news, found the dipstick hole and the channel which had moved out of site.
