Difference between mig and arc welding?

Hi I am considering welding a small panel on my van. It's where I have had a few problems with rust, there are a few holes on the back panel and it might be easier to weld rather than fill again. I just wondered which sort of welding I need and what is the difference.
 
Very difficult to weld thin metal with an arc welder, it's just to fierce. MIG is the way to go, it takes a bit of practice but well worth it:)

MIG is the way to go with bodywork, it's dead easy. Unlike arc welding which is highly skilled to do properly.:)

It's dead easy, if you're commeracer. If you have to ask what the difference is then you probably need tuition. Have a look and see if there's a technical college in your area that does evening classes

Mig = Russian aircraft so can be welded
Ark = large wooden boat built by Noah so can't be welded.

Can be if you use stick rods ;):D
