Later vans have a stronger diff quick search of forum should reveal the ratios make sure it's topped up regular it is the commers weak spot.
Mr racer will be along soon or some other knowledgeable person.
Diff ratios were 5.125:1 41x8 teeth or 5.625:1 45x8teeth.

still to small for me I guess ,because my ford OHC 2.0 with automatic A4ld trans is doing 50 mph easy but the RPM's are around 4500 to 5000 > and that's causing problems with the cooling system 
anyhow i'm changing to a ford MT75 manual transmission ...but that still doesn't solve the RPM issues !!
so I need a different diff that fits my commer axle somewhere in the 4.3:1 or 4.6:1 ish ........or when not available change the whole rear axle for an Atlas type ford axle

You could fit a Rover P5 or P5B axle, the P5B has a diff ratio of 3.54 and is the same stud pattern as a Commer. The P5 ratio is 3.9 and they are interchangeable with Land Rover (4.7) and RoverP4 (4.3)
